How does this work?

How to Use Infographic
  • You upload a picture on the order page, or email us a copy of your picture (see below for scanning tips)
  • After doing the repair,we will email you back a watermarked proof of our work
  • We will make any changes you want until you are satisfied
  • We send you an email requesting a payment via paypal
  • Once we receive payment, we will email you the full resolution unwatermarked picture

What can you do with my picture?

We can repair minor to major damage to pictures.
A minor repair includes fixing minor exposure/color correction issues, cropping, sharpening, and removing minor dust and scratches.
A major repair includes fixing major scratches or tears that require restoring missing details, also major color correction issues.
We can also colorize a black and white picture. The more information you give us about what colors you would like things to be, the closer we can get to real life.

If you are unsure whether what you want done is possible, send in your picture and we will let you know.

What is the best way to scan a picture?

Scanning a picture to make a digital copy is a simple process. Each scanner is different so I can't go into details of how to use your scanner, but use the following guidelines for the best results:

  • Scan at 600 dpi (dots per inch)
  • Scan at the highest bit depth available
  • Scan in color even if the picture is black and white

What if I don't like the way the restoration turns out?

After doing the repair, we will send you a watermarked proof of the picture and a Paypal money request. We will continue to work on the picture until you are satisfied. Only once you are happy with the picture should you send your payment.

How long will it take to get my picture fixed?

We typically finish the repair within a week of you ordering. If you have additional requests after the first attempt, that may take a few more days. If you need to rush a job, please just ask and we will see what we can do.

What if my picture is too big to upload?

First, you can try emailing the picture to info@tophatphotorepair.com. Most pictures at reasonable resolutions will fit in an email attachment. If for some reason you can not email the photo, contact us and we can arrange to have you upload the picture or mail us the physical copy.

How do I pay if I don't have a paypal account?

You don't need a paypal account to make a payment using paypal, just your credit card information. We can also accept payment by check, contact us for details.
